"I
will praise You, O Lord,
among the peoples: I
will sing to You among the
nations."
Music
is a vital part of worship
for every believer and every
congregation. With the
Lord's guidance, we strive
to combine a gospel style
along with traditional
hymns. It is a joy to be a
part of such a vibrant
ministry in such an exciting
church.
Our adult
choir is an all volunteer
group who desires to praise
God, and lead others to
worship and to a closer walk
with God through song. We
rehearse each Sunday evening
from 5:00 to 5:45. There are
no auditions for this group,
but it does help to be able
to carry a tune. We present
special music nearly every
Sunday morning, and
participate in special
events such as Christmas
Cantatas, Easter
Cantatas, and special
events in our community.
Tim and Kathy Dowdy are our
Music Ministry Team.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, they attended rival
high schools and although
they did not know each
other, performed in Honor
Chorus concerts throughout
high school. In 1987
they each auditioned for a
Christian community chorus
in the Atlanta area. This is
where they "officially
met". They
fell deeply in love and were
married in July of 1990.
Since then they have served
as a team in the music
ministry. Kathy
retired from teaching music
in the DeKalb County school
system in 2003 and they
bought a Queen Anne
Victorian house in Luverne
and opened the Camellia
House Bed and
Breakfast. They were
invited to provide the music
for the Patsburg Summer
Revival in the Summer of
2004 and called to serve at
Patsburg in October
2004.
